Academy Directors

Paul Warner

I Started playing darts for Maldon Grey pub at 15yrs old learning and practicing with local players.
I moved onto play for Prince of Wales and Horse and Groom learning more from playing with and against County and Super league players.
As a youth i won local u21 titles and various league titles, doubles and trebles titles.
Currently i play twice a week for Sudbury Institute Club in local league and Tuesdays for Sudbury Super league.
I love darts and when my boys started playing at home we quickly realised there was nowhere for them outside their home to practice and play.
Thats when i started the Academy with Ian and hope we can be big part of securing the future of darts by creating pathways for the kids and a safe and friendly place to practice and get advice.

Ian Randles

I first started playing darts around the age of 11 when I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps I got him to put me a board up in my bedroom and I haven’t stopped since. I started playing league darts at 16 when i was encouraged by work collages to help out a local team that was short so i started playing for the wagon and horses on a Monday and the maldon grey on a Friday I then switched to Stanstead social club to play alongside a group of work colleges and that’s where things started to get a little more serious we were one of the best teams in the Glemsford and district league and I was one of the leagues better players. After a few years a few of us switched to play in Sudbury and joined the Spread eagle on both a Monday and Friday where dick Nichols inspired me to take the game a little more serious and before long I was playing superleague for Sudbury. The first year was fantastic and I just wanted to keep improving and that’s just what I did I have played for many a team on a Monday and Friday such as the horse and groom and bures bells in the Colchester league along as the Melford hare and Glemsford lion. I’ve always been a part of the Sudbury dart scene and helped my father run the Friday league for many years. Currently I play for the institute on a Monday, Sudbury superleague on Tuesdays and Melford wmc on a Friday along with the odd game for Newport on a Wednesday; I am a senior member of the Suffolk County squad and have represented my county 116 times. I am currently the Chairman and General Secretary for Suffolk county darts along with league secretary for the Glemsford tyre Monday league and founder and former chairman of the Sudbury and district invitational Friday league. Along with around 10 man of the match’s for suffolk I have won the current Friday league singles 4 time and also have won the suffolk superleague singles I have played in the winmau world master regional qualifiers and also the gold cup finals. My heart and soul is in darts and now I want to be a part of a new generation of players from this area so when asked to help form a darts academy I was 100% in and it’s a great stepping stone to get youngsters into local league darts and hopefully county youth and you never know one day we might of helped develop a future world champion.
